Through this technique I have highlighted the shape and form of the architecture. It has also added intensity to the work and drawn attention to the free nature.

The Relationship between architecture and movment
Black ink and dip pen
In this piece I have concentrated strongly on the angles of buildings and the shapes they form. I have looked at the relationship between different buildings and how it looks visually when these images are combined in an unusual way. This also depicts the direction and pace of city life and emphasises the essence of movement within the city.

Juxtaposed architecture on the same composition
Pen on paper.
This is a more concise exploration of how buildings that don't naturally appear next to each other can be combined in an imaginative and interesting way. The scale of the drawing and the minimal pen lines highlight this relationship further.

Urban block of flats
Biro and fine liner
This image is a block of flats in Elephant and Castle. My main aim is to highlight the repetitive nature of the windows and the structure of the building but also to portray the individuality and character. That is why each window is drawn differently. This is about all areas of London, not just the popular tourist spots.

Southbank Live drawing
Grey felt tip, fountain pen and fine liner
This is a couple of pages from my sketchbook that I drew on the Southbank. With drawing on location the image embodies a strong sense of energy. This is down to capturing the essence of the place in a free and impuslive way.

Commuters
Black pen on paper
This image concentrates on the direction and pace of people walking in the city. The lines sybolise how you are always crossing paths with so many people each with their own agenda. It is almost mapping out and recording where they go. I have abstracted it and made it more angular.

Piccadilly Circus
Bleach on quick ink
One of the key aspects of the city is all the lights, shining and neon. Through experimenting I realised that using the unusual medium of bleach was a very good way of creating light within my drawings. It is a free and unpredictable medium to use, and I like the impulsive nature it brings to my work.
